Town of Breckenridge

Established in 1859 by prospectors during the Gold Rush, the mountain town of Breckenridge is the county seat of Summit County and home to the largest historic district in Colorado, providing a colorful history of exploration and adventure that is still prevalent today. From historic Main Street where dozens of shops and restaurants can be enjoyed, to legendary snow skiing, to scenic summers, Breckenridge has all the hallmarks of a storied mountain retreat. But it’s the lifestyle Breckenridge provides that is as distinctive and alluring as the Ten Mile Range that surrounds the town. Home to the world-famous Breckenridge Ski Resort, it offers over 2,900 acres of ski trails that were first cut in 1961. Today, these ski runs continue to draw skiers and boarders of all levels from around the world. The resort’s claim to fame is the Imperial Express, known as North America’s highest chair lift with a peak elevation of 12,840 feet. Winter activities also include tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, fat-tire biking and sleigh rides. The warmer months of summer, with Breckenridge’s scenic vistas, make it the perfect place to enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, fly-fishing, golfing and horseback riding. Breckenridge is also host to a variety of annual festivals and events including the Summer Beer Festival, the Food and Wine Festival, Oktoberfest, the Racing of the Santas and Ullr Fest to name a few. Located just 80 miles west of Denver off I-70, Breckenridge is the perfect destination to experience Colorado’s epic mountain lifestyle.
